Bilingual national security education Seminars for Chinese and Non-Chinese Speaking Secondary Students

Dr. Adrienne Wing-Yan Lam and Dr. Wendy Mun-Wai Lee, lecturers from our Centre, delivered two seminars on national security at Hong Kong Taoist Association The Yuen Yuen Institute No. 3 Secondary School on 2 May 2025. A distinguished feature of this seminar was its bilingual teaching approach, with a Chinese session for Chinese students in the morning and an English session for non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students in the afternoon, ensuring students from diverse cultural backgrounds could fully participate and benefit.

To better cater for the needs of the school’s multicultural students, the seminar was meticulously planned and had incorporated a global perspective, helping students to comprehend the importance of national security from a holistic perspective, as well as its close connection with our daily lives. Additionally, the seminar included innovative elements such as AI-driven national security songs, tongue twisters, and interactive games, further enhancing students’ interest and level of engagement in national security topics.
