September 20, 2025 – The National Security and Legal Education Research Centre (NSLERC) at the Education University of Hong Kong welcomed the University’s Honorary Professor Starry Lee Wai-king, member of Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (HKSAR) for an authoritative lecture on Hong Kong's constitutional framework and political development.

Professor Starry Lee delivered a comprehensive presentation titled "The Constitution, Basic Law, and HKSAR’s Political Development Process" to faculty members, students, and education practitioners.

Master of Laws in Digital Governance [LLM(DG)] programme Holds the Orientation Day 2025/26

The National Security and Legal Education Research Centre (NSLERC) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) successfully hosted the Orientation Day for the 2025/26 cohort of its Master of Laws in Digital Governance (LLM(DG)) programme on 21 August 2025. Nearly 100 new students attended the event in person, marking the commencement of their academic and professional journey in the interdisciplinary field of digital governance and law.

The 5th Anniversary of the Hong Kong National Security Law Academic Symposium Concludes Successfully

The "5th Anniversary of the Hong Kong National Security Law Academic Symposium", co-hosted by the National Security and Legal Education Research Centre of the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), the Tsinghua University Centre for Hong Kong & Macao Studies, and the Centre for Basic Laws of Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Region, was successfully held on 19 July 2025 at the EdUHK. The symposium, themed "Ensuring the Steady Implementation of ‘One Country, Two Systems’ through the Hong Kong National Security Law (HKNSL)", brought together esteemed legal experts and scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to discuss the historical significance, legal effectiveness, and future development of the HKNSL, providing attendees with profound and multi-dimensional insights.

On June 19, 2025, the National Security and Legal Education Research Centre (NSLERC) of the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and the New Territories North Regional Headquarters’ Regional Crime Prevention Office of the Hong Kong Police Force jointly organized a training seminar for national security education instructors, which brought together experts from different fields to provide participants with comprehensive and practical guidance on enhancement of national security education.

Social welfare sector actively participates in symposium to raise awareness of safeguarding national security

The symposium on safeguarding national security for the social welfare sector of Hong Kong, jointly organised by the Labour and Welfare Bureau (LWB) and the Social Welfare Department (SWD) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Connecting Hearts, was held today (April 8) to further enhance the sector's awareness of safeguarding national security. Member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Ms Starry Lee, and the Director of the National Security and Legal Education Research Centre of the Education University of Hong Kong, Professor Gu Minkang, also shared their valuable insights on patriotic education as well as national security and the law at the symposium respectively, which enabled participants to have deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the relevant topics.
